Sahil who?

Everyone gets handed name tags. Shopkeeper's son. Commerce student. Associate. MBA. Researcher. Perfumer. The tag is never wrong, exactly — it is just never the whole person. This is one life told as seven name tags, peeled off one at a time.

Fact what happened, as Sahil has stated it · Reading an interpretation, offered not proven

The name tag stack

Drag the corner, tap, or press P. Each tag jumps you to its chapter.

  1. 01 · Mehrauli

The counter was the first classroom

Fact Born in 1995 and raised in Mehrauli, in South Delhi, in a family with long commercial roots and a neighbourhood shop. Hindi and Hinglish at home and on the street; English largely self-taught.

Reading A shop counter is a quiet laboratory. Every day you watch people decide: what to trust, what to pay, what to come back for. Years later, that habit of watching becomes the Kirana Laboratory — field notes on trust and choice, written as observation rather than proof.

  2. 02 · Sri Venkateswara College

Learning the official language of money

Fact B.Com (Honours) at Sri Venkateswara College, University of Delhi, completed in 2016.

Reading Commerce gave names to things the shop already knew by instinct — margins, incentives, ledgers. It also planted a question the rest of the story keeps asking: what do the numbers leave out about people?

  3. 03 · EY, consulting, government

    Inside the machine

Fact Professional work at EY (Lead Associate), Happy+ Consulting and the Ministry of Finance, with earlier stints that older records also mention. Exact dates are kept loose here on purpose — the archive isn't precise enough to pretend otherwise.

Reading Big institutions teach compliance, process and the strange gap between what an organisation says it values and what it rewards. That gap later gets a name of its own.

  4. 04 · JBIMS, Mumbai

    Studying people at work

Fact MBA in Human Resource Development at Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, around 2019–2021. Co-authored a BookMyShow case study, “Will the Phoenix Rise Once Again?”, published in 2021.

Reading HR is where business admits it is about humans. The interest here isn't headcount — it's why capable people stall, and what institutions do to the people inside them. That thread becomes Human Capital for Humans.

  5. 05 · Independent research

    Why intention doesn't become action

Fact Develops the Identity–Action Gap, a conceptual model of why who we believe we are and what we actually do drift apart. It is a working model with an interactive version, not a validated finding.

Reading Every earlier tag points here. The shop showed decisions; the office showed incentives; the MBA showed people. The research asks the question underneath all three — and keeps the honest label hypothesis on it until evidence earns otherwise.

  6. 06 · House of Venus

    Bottling a mood

Fact Formulates fragrance — Tayal Perfumes, the House of Venus project and a bespoke service called Bottle Your Mood.

Reading Perfume is psychology you can wear. It joins the shop (a product someone chooses), research (memory and emotion) and making (a thing that exists in the world) into one bottle. It is the least explainable tag, and maybe the most honest.

  7. 07 · The Sahilverse

    Ideas made tangible

Fact In 2026, an execution phase: writing essays, running an independent web studio, and building a connected universe of interactive sites anchored at sahiltayal.com.

Reading The sites are the tags made public. Each one is a single question turned into a place you can walk through — about detours, wrong mountains, plateaus, small freedoms. None of them is final. That's the point.

08 · Unwritten

The tag nobody has written yet

Every chapter above is a label someone could hand him. The last one is blank on purpose — a life under construction doesn't get to sign off. Try writing the tag you're wearing right now. It stays in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.
